Program Vision

To foster holistic mental well-being through integrated, accessible, and community-driven mental health and psychosocial support services, strengthening individual and collective resilience in refugee settlements and surrounding communities.

Program Mission

To deliver evidence-based MHPSS services while leveraging synergies with Home Nursing and Family Planning programs, promoting integrated care for vulnerable populations through shared outreach, training, and service delivery.

Strategic Objectives (2025–2027)

  • Collaborate with Home Nursing for mental health screenings during home visits.
  • Coordinate with Family Planning to address emotional barriers to reproductive health choices.
  • Scale services to additional refugee settlements alongside Home Nursing.
  • Offer mobile MHPSS services aligned with Family Planning outreach campaigns.
  • Conduct joint community sessions focusing on chronic disease management, reproductive health, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Train healthcare workers and community volunteers in integrated care delivery.
  • Use program data from Home Nursing and Family Planning to evaluate MHPSS impact and identify service gaps.

Key Activities by Quarter

Year 2025: Foundation and Launch

  • Recruit and train MHPSS staff for integration with Home Nursing and Family Planning teams.
  • Develop community outreach materials on psychosocial well-being.
  • Launch mobile MHPSS services in Lwamwanja Refugee Settlement.
  • Begin joint home visits with Home Nursing and Family Planning teams.
  • Conduct baseline assessments for psychosocial needs in Kyaka II and Lwamwanja.
  • Initiate mental health referral pathways to specialized services.

Year 2026: Scaling and Coordination

  • Expand MHPSS services to Kyangwali Refugee Settlement.
  • Organize joint mental health and family planning sessions.
  • Enhance coordination with Home Nursing for chronic disease management and mental health care.
  • Pilot group therapy sessions for emotional barriers to family planning adoption.
  • Launch mid-year outreach campaigns integrating sports activities with psychosocial education.

Year 2027: Consolidation and Sustainability

  • Extend services to Nakivale Refugee Settlement.
  • Train staff in advanced psychosocial care techniques, such as trauma-informed approaches.
  • Introduce co-managed initiatives, including combined maternal health and psychosocial well-being workshops.
  • Develop a shared database to improve inter-program referrals and follow-ups.
  • Conduct impact evaluations and publish findings on the benefits of integrated care models.

Interconnections with Sister Programs

  • Home Nursing: Nurses screen for mental health during home visits and refer cases to MHPSS.
  • Family Planning: Address psychological barriers to family planning uptake and deliver joint educational campaigns.

Projected Outcomes

  • Serve 2,000+ clients annually through home visits, mobile clinics, and outreach campaigns.
  • Seamless collaboration with Home Nursing and Family Planning, resulting in holistic care delivery.
  • Establish sustainable community health networks supporting mental and psychosocial well-being.
  • Use feedback loops and data analytics to continually refine service delivery models.
